Come and Support us and the London Pearly Kings
Before our home game with Southampton on 2nd April, we will have 3 generations of London Pearly Kings collecting with us.
When they came to a game last season we raised over £5,000 for food for local foodbanks. Hopefully we can beat this figure this time!
Cool To Be Kind
It was a pleasure to be able to team up last winter with Hammers season ticket holder Dan Skeates’ Cool To Be Kind project (www.c2bk.co.uk), supporting rough sleepers in the Chelmsford area.
We’ve been able to supply new clothes, mobile phones and rucksacks to Dan, and will be supporting them with future donations throughout the year.
2023 Easter Eggs Appeal
As we’ve done in recent years, we’ll be delivering Easter chocolates to a number of local foodbanks and community groups in the area. Statistics show that there are over 43,000 Newham youngsters living below the poverty line, and we hope to supply some of them with a chocolate treat this Easter.
Donations can be dropped off at our pre-match collection point on Stratford Walk or on-line cash donations to support us at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ironssupportingfoodbanks2022

Irons Supporting Foodbanks Merchandising
Our limited edition beanie hats sold out last winter, but we’ve a stock of our smart hoodies (£25 each) and t-shirts (£12 each) available in various sizes. These can be bought cash-less at our usual pre-match collection point on Stratford Walk, or can be ordered by email and posted at cost.
By purchasing our merchandise, all proceeds go towards supplying further food pallets to our local foodbanks.
Supporting Local Initiatives With New Clothes
Over the last few months a number of manufacturers have donated their surplus clothes to us, 12+ pallets, for which we are so grateful. During this time, we’ve been able to supply to 2 local councils and a number of homeless groups including Cool To Be Kind, Sanctus Chelmsford, Bethnal Green Homeless, and Jaywick Homeless. We’ve also supported UK AID’s (www.uk-aid.org) Ukraine Appeal with clothes, and supplied new clothes for the Turkey Syria Disaster Appeal.
Success for Irons Supporting Foodbanks
We were thrilled to win the Civic & Community Engagement Award at the Newham Business Awards 2022 last week. Big thanks to the many West Ham fans, businesses and football fans who have supported our efforts for the last 3 years. You’ve helped to make a difference.

East London Community Heroes Awards 2022
Irons Supporting Foodbanks were shortlisted for the Outstanding Initiative In Community Cohesion Award at the Rotary Stratford East London Community Heroes Awards 2022 held at LondonEast-UK, Dagenham on Saturday 1st October.
Whilst we didn’t win it was humbling to be recognised with a Highly Commended Certificate, and to hear of the outstanding work being done by so many volunteers and organisations in the area.
Thank you to the many West Ham fans, friends and businesses who support us in helping to reduce social poverty in east London
#CHARITYNOTPPV
Alongside all of the other Premier League clubs, Irons Supporting Foodbanks are asking our fans to make an affordable donation to their local foodbank and to boycott the £14.95 pay per view charge instead of paying this money to Sky Sports and BT Sport. Whilst we are currently in a run of 3 scheduled televised games covered by normal Sky Sports/BT Sport subscriptions, the extra surcharge for PPV (for West Ham fans likely to be for the Fulham game), comes at a difficult time where families are trying to make ends meet during the Covid crisis with the various tier restrictions and further furlough.
So far this week 10,000’s of fans have donated to their local foodbanks. Newcastle United fans donated over £20,000 rather than watch last weekend’s PPV game. The 2 Manchester clubs have seen over £25,000 donated to the city’s 19 foodbanks, and The Leeds United Trust has seen £31,000 donated locally.
A spokesperson for Irons Supporting Foodbanks added “This week we’ve seen 10,000’s of fans helping 10’000’s of people. This is fan activism at its best. Until the broadcasters revise their charge down to a realistic price point we ask that our fans support Newham Foodbank and if possible donate at www.justgiving/crowdfunding/IronsSupportingFoodbanks.”
‘We are pleased that fan groups including WHUISA are supporting this campaign.’
